The issuer is solely responsible for the content of this announcement. --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Buttenwiesen-Pfaffenhofen, 15 May 2013 - During the first quarter of 2013, SURTECO SE, leading manufacturer of surface materials based on plastics and technical papers for the international construction and furnishing industry, generated sales of 99.2 million euros and was therefore 7 % below the volume of the equivalent year-earlier quarter. Sales in the domestic market fell back by 12 % and foreign sales fell by 5 %. The foreign sales ratio increased by two percentage points to 68 %. After the first three months of the business year, the Strategic Business Unit Plastics closed with sales of 58.1 million euros (-8 %). The paper segment generated 41.1 million euros (-7 %). During the first quarter of 2013, the operating result (EBITDA) of the SURTECO Group amounted to 13.3 million euros (-2 %). The pretax result (EBT) rose by 7 % to 6.1 million euros. A reduction in the cost of materials ratio by 2.6 percentage points to 44.7 % and a financial result of -1.9 million euros after -2.4 million euros in the previous year resulted in this development.
