SURTECO SE: Preliminary results 2012

SURTECO SE, one of the leading manufacturers of surface materials based on plastics and technical papers for the international construction and furnishing industry, generated sales amounting to 407.7 million euros in the business year 2012 (2011: 408.8 million euros). While the domestic market fell back by 3 %, foreign sales went up by 1 %. The share of foreign sales in total sales increased by 2 percentage points to 69 %. The sales of the Strategic Business Unit Plastics rose by 1 % to 237.6 million euros. Sales in the paper segment slowed by 2 % and reached 170.1 million euros.
During the course of 2012, the Group achieved an operating result (EBITDA) of 51.7 million euros after 56.1 million euros in 2011. The decline was essentially caused by a one-off expense amounting to 1.7 million euros for restructuring measures and the collectively agreed payscale increase for wages and salaries which could not be passed on to customers in their entirety. The financial result improved significantly because the package of shares in Pfleiderer AG still held by SURTECO was subject to impairment in the previous year. The preliminary operating result before tax (EBT) amounted to some 21 million euros (2011: 22.9 million euros).
SURTECO SE will publish the complete, audited annual financial statements for the business year 2012 on 30 April 2013.
